WE HAVE STARTED THE PROCESS OF REGISTRATION AT HONOLULU COMMUNITY COLLEGE, THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII MAUI COLLEGE, KAUAI COMMUNITY COLLEGE, AND HAWAII COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR THE 2026 FALL SEMESTER.
ALL STUDENTS MUST GET A TB TEST AND ALSO PROVIDE THEIR IMMUNIZATION RECORD. PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE HEALTH CLEARANCE FORM TO SUBMIT TO THE UNIVERSITIES, AS THIS IS MANDATORY AND MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO REGISTRATION. IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE WITH THIS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, AS WE NEED TO GET THIS DOCUMENT TO THE UNIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY COLLEGES HASTILY, INCLUDING FOR LOCAL 221 MEMBERS OF THE ROOFERS UNION HAWAII AND WATERPROOFERS UNION.

The Department of Labor has issued new rules regarding harassment in apprenticeship programs. This rule applies to all individuals involved with apprenticeships, including but not limited to instructors, supervisors, foremen, journeymen, and co-workers in the local 221 roofers union, roofers union Hawaii, and waterproofers union.

The Training Program for the local 221 roofers union needs your current cell phone, email, and mailing address to update your Material Installation Certifications and your Safety Training Qualification information. This is essential for members of the roofers union Hawaii and the waterproofers union as well.
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR VOLUNTARY DISABILITY DISCLOSURE FORM
The United States Department of Labor has issued new rules regarding new candidates wishing to enter the Roofing and Waterproofing Industry. For those interested, a VDD form or Voluntary Disability Disclosure Form is available through the local 221 Roofers Union. Additionally, candidates can find more information about the Roofers Union Hawaii and the Waterproofers Union on our download page for the form.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE HEALTH CLEARANCE FORM MUST BE COMPLETED AND TURNED IN TO THE TRAINING AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! IF NOT SUBMITTED TO THE COLLEGE, YOU MAY BE CANCELLED FROM THE ROOFERS UNION TRAINING PROGRAM, INCLUDING LOCAL 221 AND THE ROOFERS UNION HAWAII. REMEMBER, THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS IN THE ROOFERS UNION AND WATERPROOFERS UNION.
HEALTH IMMUNIZATION CLEARANCE INSTRUCTIONS
If you currently do not have any kind of medical coverage, this information is particularly important for you, especially if you're part of the Roofers Local #221 or the Waterproofers Union. However, please note that there might be a co-payment of $15.00 for services. Accessing medical care for your immunization shots could be a financial challenge. The Roofers Training Program is collaborating with Kalihi-Palama Health Center, which is about a 5-10 minute drive from the Roofers Local #221 Office. Before you head down to the clinic, please set up an appointment with Maxine Talamoa by contacting her cell phone at (808) 386-8820. About Our Union Training
Skilled Union Training
We provide training for our Union signatory contractors through the local 221 roofers union. We partner with our union companies in Hawaii to train apprentice roofers and waterproofers, helping them become highly skilled journey person roofers and waterproofers within the waterproofers union.
Partnered Training Initiatives
We offer pre-scheduled training classes for members of the local 221, including those in the roofers union and waterproofers union in Hawaii. Pre-sign ups for classes are required, and there are minimal costs per student, which will be refunded after completion. Please note that class sizes are limited.
Certifications and Qualifications Offered
Fall Protection and Fall Protection for Competent Person, including EM 385 1-1 24 HR-Fall Protection for Competent Person, are essential for members o
f the local 221 roofers union in Hawaii. Training such as OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 ensures safety compliance for all roofers and waterproofers union members. Additionally, CERTA-Certified Torch Applicator Certification and Re-CERTA-Certified Torch Applicator Re-Certification are critical qualifications for professionals in this field. Operators of Rough Terrain Type 7 Forklifts and those working with MEWPs (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms), including self-propelled booms and scissor lifts, must be qualified. It's also important for there to be a Qualified Signalperson and Rigger on-site for safety. Other necessary training includes GHS Hazard Communication Training and RF Hazard Training Awareness, which are vital for compliance. Foreman Training Classes offered by the Roofers International Training Program, such as Foreman I & Foreman II, are key for developing leadership skills among members of the roofers union. Furthermore, understanding ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) is crucial for safe operations in sensitive environments.
